PNE – poetry on the goal line

The Word will judge a great new poetry competition for children who love Preston North End.

Aged between 5 and 15 years old and always wanted to try your hand at poetry? Read on…

In conjunction with the Preston North End South Ribble Supporters Group we’re looking for the top poets in Lancashire in three age groups

  • 5 to 7 years
  • 8 to 11
  • 12 to 15

There is no limit to the length of the poem and no restriction on the type of poetry – rhyming couplets, limericks, haikus and ballads are all welcome – but the poem must be about Preston North End.

Closing date – January 11th 2013

Winners announced – January 28th 2013

Winners

The winner of each age group will have their winning entry published in the Preston North End match day programme AND receive a football signed by members of the Preston North End squad.

Prizes for each age group

1st – Publication in the PNE match programme, a signed PNE football, £10 book token

2nd – £10 Book Token

3rd – £5 Book Token

A special £15 book token prize will be awarded by The Life Channel to the most humorous entry.

The Life Channel, promoters of educational tools and technology, have donated the book tokens.

Writers from The Word, a Preston-based collective that runs events for writers, will judge the entries.

Your entry must contain

  • full name
  • age
  • address
  • telephone number
  • name of your school
  • contact email if possible
  • the name of a parent or guardian
